Fintech giant Stripe announced Thursday that it will begin letting customers accept cryptocurrency payments, initially supporting only USDC stablecoin and only on Solana, Ethereum, and Polygon, which will be Stripe's first time accepting crypto payments since 2018, when the company dropped support for the token due to the volatility of Bitcoin. John Collison, co-founder and president of Stripe, said, “Stripe is resuming crypto payments - this time with stablecoins - and it's a much better experience.” Stripe is said to have processed $1 trillion in transactions last year and is still growing, with a current book value of $65 billion.
