Futures exchange CME Group plans to launch Bitcoin spot trading
According to the Financial Times, CME Group, the world's largest futures exchange, plans to launch Bitcoin spot trading in response to Wall Street fund managers' growing demand for the cryptocurrency industry this year. CME has discussed with traders who wish to buy and sell Bitcoin on regulated markets. The plan is not yet final, but if implemented it will further deepen major Wall Street institutions' penetration into the digital asset field. This move follows the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's approval of direct investment in Bitcoin stock funds in January this year. CME has become one of the biggest beneficiaries of this wave of renewed institutional interest, with about 26,000 open positions on its Chicago market currently worth approximately $8.5 billion - more than double that a year ago.
