New York Stock Exchange Arca withdraws request for listing Commodity Trust and Cryptocurrency ETF options
According to a Golden Finance report, a document dated August 13 shows that the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Arca electronic exchange has withdrawn a rule change proposed in January. This change would have allowed for commodity trust options trading, including cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs). According to a document from January 19, the purpose of the proposed change was "to allow commodity trust share options to be listed and traded."
In a letter sent by Grayscale Investments to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on February 28, it will include options for cryptocurrency ETFs such as Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC). The letter stated that the SEC should "update its outdated piecemeal approval method to approve spot-based commodity ETP options...including GBTC options on exchanges." This withdrawal is the latest in a series of sudden activities related to spot cryptocurrency ETF listing options.
