On October 8th, Web3 gaming protocol Elympics partnered with the Blockchain Gaming Alliance (BGA) and blockchain gaming data tracker PlayToEarn to produce an industry report titled: A Competitive Future for Web3 Gaming: The Global Gaming Report 2024. The report examines the current state of blockchain gaming and surveys 1,000 gamers around the world to gather their opinions on Web3 gaming. More than 10% of respondents said that the complexity of using cryptocurrency wallets is the main reason why they don't play Web3 games. Meanwhile, 7.3% of respondents said they don't understand the value of Web3 games. Another 2.4% of players said they were satisfied with Web2 games. In addition, 9.1% of participants indicated that blockchain-based games did not appeal to them. When asked why they play the game, many participants indicated airdrops and the possibility of making money as their main reasons. Another popular reason was the opportunity to compete with other players.
