Microsoft: Will continue to monitor cryptocurrency-related trends and developments to guide future decisions
On December 11, Microsoft's board of directors disclosed in regulatory documents the reasons for refusing to invest in Bitcoin, believing that the proposal was unnecessary as the company is already considering a variety of investment options.
Microsoft stated: "As mentioned in the proposal itself, Bitcoin's volatility is a factor that needs to be considered when assessing it as an investment for corporate financial applications because businesses need stable and predictable investments to ensure liquidity and operating funds. Microsoft already has strong and appropriate processes to manage and diversify corporate finance to achieve long-term shareholder interests, so this request for public evaluation is unnecessary."
Microsoft further stated that past evaluations have listed Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as one of the options under consideration. Microsoft will continue monitoring trends and developments related to cryptocurrencies to guide future decisions.
