US: CBO Issues Alert on Rising Deficits in Newest Fiscal Analysis
CBO Warns of Escalating Federal Debt
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has published its most recent Budget and Economic Outlook for the years 2026 through 2035. The report highlights that surging interest payments and unchecked growth in entitlement programs are pushing the national debt to record highs. Even though government revenues are above their long-term average, federal spending continues to outpace income by a wide margin.
This pattern of excessive borrowing carries significant consequences for Americans, such as increased inflation, dampened economic expansion, and rising interest rates. The CBO cautions that unless lawmakers take decisive action to rein in entitlement expenditures, the United States could experience a gradual economic decline, potentially ending in a sudden and severe fiscal crisis.
