U.S. Dollar Holds Steady as Yen Strengthens
The U.S. dollar remained largely unchanged against other major currencies on Thursday, following a series of mixed economic reports from the United States. Meanwhile, the Japanese yen was on track to achieve one of its best weekly performances in the past year.
According to data released by the U.S. Labor Department, the number of Americans submitting new claims for unemployment benefits declined less than analysts had anticipated. This outcome supports the prevailing view among economists that the job market is reaching a point of stability.
These figures come alongside recent reports highlighting a fall in the U.S. unemployment rate, robust job creation in January, and a slowdown in retail sales during December.
