⑴ On Tuesday, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated in Geneva that both Iran and the United States have reached an "understanding" on key principles. He pointed out that compared to the previous round of negotiations, this round has made "good progress," and both sides will begin drafting and exchanging potential agreement documents. ⑵ However, the Iranian Foreign Minister also cautiously noted that there are still issues that require further discussion. "This does not mean we will reach an agreement soon, but the path has been opened." This statement indicates that although there has been a breakthrough in the negotiations, there is still some distance from signing a final agreement. ⑶ The talks took place against the backdrop of the United States increasing its military presence in the Middle East. Just one day before the negotiations, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard conducted military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz and temporarily closed parts of the strait for "security precautions." ⑷ The market is closely watching the follow-up developments of the negotiations. If an agreement is ultimately reached, it could lead to a relaxation of sanctions on Iranian oil exports, thereby affecting the global crude oil supply landscape. However, at present, both sides still need to further discuss technical details.
