GRAIL Stock Tumbles - National Health Service Galleri Trial To Blame
GRAIL Inc. (NASDAQ:GRAL) shares are down during Monday's premarket session following the release of results from the NHS-Galleri trial, which evaluated the effectiveness of the Galleri test in reducing late-stage cancer diagnoses.
NHS-Galleri Trial Results
The NHS-Galleri trial results showed a favorable trend in reducing Stage IV cancer diagnoses, although the primary endpoint was not met. On Friday, GRAIL stock closed almost 51% lower.
The trial evaluated annual multi-cancer screening with the Galleri test in England's National Health Service (NHS) over three years, involving 142,000 participants aged 50 to 77.
The results indicated a clinically meaningful reduction in Stage IV diagnoses across a group of 12 deadly cancers, with a more than 20% reduction observed in subsequent screening rounds.
The broader market experienced declines on the previous trading day, with the Russell 2000 down 0.72% and the S&P 500 falling 0.50%.
GRAIL's decline occurred while the broader market was under pressure, suggesting that the stock's movement is primarily driven by company-specific news rather than overall market trends.
GRAIL's Technical Indicators Highlight Weakness
The stock is currently trading 47.3% below its 20-day simple moving average (SMA) and 40.5% below its 100-day SMA, indicating significant short-term weakness. Shares have increased by 112.58% over the past 12 months and are currently positioned closer to their 52-week lows than highs.
The RSI is at 50.93, which is considered neutral territory, while the MACD is at 0.2738, below its signal line at 0.5506, indicating bearish pressure on the stock. The combination of neutral RSI and bearish MACD suggests mixed momentum.

According to media reports, TSMC's advanced and high-priced processes such as 2nm and 3nm have seen the largest price increases; mature and specialty processes are subject to individual negotiation based on products, capacity utilization, and customer conditions. Currently, TSMC's 8-inch fabs have a capacity utilization rate exceeding 100%, and processes below 45nm are at full capacity. The construction of AI data centers is not only driving demand for GPU and HBM, but also boosting orders for mature processes such as PMIC, MCU, and analog ICs.
