Gelonghui, February 25th|SK Hynix announced plans to invest an additional approximately 21.6 trillion Korean won (about $15.1 billion) in the Yongin semiconductor cluster in Korea by 2030, for the construction of new facilities for the first wafer fab and cleanrooms for phases 2 through 6. This additional budget brings the total investment for the first Yongin wafer fab to about 31 trillion Korean won. The height of this plant is equivalent to a 50-story apartment building, and all facility construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2030. In order to respond more quickly to global customer demand, SK Hynix has moved up the launch date of the first cleanroom from the originally scheduled May 2027 to February.
