Energy prices surge across the board, European oil and gas giants open higher

格隆汇 March 3｜With oil prices surging and liquefied natural gas prices soaring, European energy stocks rose in opening trading. Brent crude oil increased by 4.35% to $81.12 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 3.6% to $72.23 per barrel. The biggest increase was seen in European natural gas prices, which jumped over 20% on Tuesday after Qatar halted production at the world’s largest liquefied natural gas export facility due to the spread of conflict in the Middle East. In the London market, BP shares rose 0.8%. TotalEnergies of France and Repsol of Spain both climbed about 1%. Portugal’s Galp Energia rose 0.5%.
