Elon Musk says Tesla will be the first to achieve general artificial intelligence in the form of humanoid robots
According to monitoring by 1M AI News, Musk posted on X stating that Tesla will be one of the companies to achieve Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), and "may be the first to realize it in the form of humanoid/atomic manipulation." The so-called "atomic manipulation" is a concept Musk introduced in a podcast interview this January, referring to the control of physical matter in the real world through humanoid robots, distinguishing it from purely digital AI.
At the Davos Forum in January, he predicted that AGI would arrive before the end of 2026, but he also made a similar prediction in 2024, saying AGI would be achieved in 2025. Tesla has currently deployed over a thousand Optimus humanoid robots in factories for parts handling, and xAI stated to investors in January that it will develop AI for Optimus.
