Golden Ten Data reported on March 4 that Jane Foley, an analyst at Rabobank, pointed out in a report that shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz during the Middle East conflict is a key factor determining risk sentiment in the foreign exchange market. She emphasized: "It is obvious," that although President Trump has stated his readiness to provide naval escorts for oil tankers, Iran claims to have complete control over the strait. Foley believes that Asian emerging market currencies appear particularly vulnerable in the face of conflict. Japan and India are highly dependent on oil imports, although the yen still retains its status as a safe-haven asset.
