1. On Monday, the USD/INR exchange rate rose by 0.6% to 92.3399, surpassing the previous high of 92.3050 set last week, with the rupee plunging to a historic low. Crude oil prices soared above $110 per barrel, sparking concerns in the market about an increase in India's import bill and renewed pressure on the trade deficit. 2. As the world's third-largest crude oil importer, India relies on imports for about 85% of its energy needs. The Iran conflict has disrupted transportation through the Strait of Hormuz, causing international oil prices to surge and severely impacting energy-importing countries like India. This has intensified imported inflation pressures and posed severe challenges to the trade balance.
