Jinse Finance reported that Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange last Friday to celebrate the launch of the private market investment tool Robinhood Ventures Fund I. This closed-end fund aims to provide retail investors with indirect exposure to popular private technology companies. Investors can trade shares on the secondary market but cannot redeem the underlying assets through the platform. On its first day of trading, the fund's performance was under pressure, with the share price dropping about 11% from the issue price at one point. Vlad Tenev stated that Robinhood is continuously promoting the democratization and tokenization of the private market, hoping to use blockchain technology and new financial structures to allow ordinary investors to access private company equity, which has traditionally been available only to institutions and accredited investors. Previously, Robinhood had tested the launch of tokenized versions of shares in private companies such as OpenAI in Europe, as part of its exploration of bringing private equity on-chain.
