Senator Tim Scott Urges End to Powell Investigation
On Wednesday, Senator Tim Scott expressed his desire for the federal probe into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to conclude, emphasizing that its resolution would enable the Senate to move forward with considering Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the central bank.
Speaking on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Scott, who leads the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, stated, “Once this investigation is behind us, we can restore the Federal Reserve’s full operations and refocus its mission.”
Meanwhile, Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina has pledged to block any Federal Reserve nominations until the criminal inquiry involving Powell is settled.
