Vitalik proposes establishing a secret voice command silent alarm system to counter crimes targeting crypto holders
ChainCatcher News, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin posted on X, proposing a tool to enhance personal safety and provide low-cost protection of civil liberties: everyone should have a simple and "deniable" way to alert authorities in case of emergency.
For example, by pre-setting several secret keywords, when a watch, phone, or home device hears these keywords, it will automatically silently dial 911 and transmit the location to the police in real time. This is especially effective for cryptocurrency holders who are concerned about kidnapping or robbery. Vitalik stated that if the environment can ensure at least a 20% probability that police will arrive immediately when a robbery occurs, and the robber cannot detect whether the alarm has been triggered, such crimes would become unfeasible due to the high risk. Since this function requires the victim to take action for it to operate, the risk of being abused by the government for large-scale surveillance is relatively low.
