February 2026 CPI Sees Notable Increase
In February 2026, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) experienced a 0.6% monthly rise, following a 0.3% decline in January. Notably, clothing and footwear prices surged by 5.9%, rebounding from a 10.2% decrease as seasonal sales ended. Service prices also advanced by 0.5%, reversing a 0.1% dip, with transport costs jumping 4.1% after falling 7.9% the month before.
Meanwhile, energy prices grew at a slower pace, up 0.3% compared to January’s 0.8% increase. Tobacco prices also moderated, rising 0.4% after a 2.4% jump. Food prices, on the other hand, remained unchanged following a 0.5% uptick in the previous month.
