Builder Confidence Sees Modest Rise Amid Ongoing Affordability Challenges

In March, builder confidence edged slightly higher, despite persistent worries about affordability due to high construction expenses and ongoing shortages of both labor and available lots. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) reported that sentiment among builders of new single-family homes increased by one point to reach 38 this month, following a similar upward revision for February. Notably, all survey responses for March were collected after the onset of the conflict with Iran.

“Affordability remains a significant issue for both homebuyers and builders,” stated a representative from NAHB.
