BNZ Predicts Inflation Surge Amid Middle East Turmoil
Economists at BNZ anticipate that annual inflation could climb to 3.6% by the end of June, largely due to ongoing instability in the Middle East. Inflation was already on the rise, reaching 3.1% in the December quarter—surpassing the Reserve Bank’s target range of 1% to 3%.

He explained that the situation introduces significant uncertainty, making it difficult to predict future developments.
