Middle East war disrupts crypto F1 sponsorships

Security concerns linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict have disrupted several major cryptocurrency conferences and sports events across the Gulf region.

Organisers of TOKEN2049 Dubai confirmed the event will not take place this year and has been postponed until April 21–22, 2027 due to uncertainty around travel, safety and logistics.

Another event focused on The Open Network, known as TON Gateway Dubai, was cancelled entirely, with organisers citing heightened security risks and issuing refunds to attendees.

The conflict is also affecting global motorsport, with the Bahrain Grand Prix and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix expected to be cancelled because of nearby military activity, disrupted airspace and travel complications.

The cancellations have financial implications for crypto exchanges such as OKX, Crypto.com and Bybit, which maintain major sponsorship agreements with Formula 1 teams and the sport itself.

Crypto companies have invested tens to hundreds of millions of dollars in F1 sponsorships to build brand visibility and reach global audiences.
