Consumer Sentiment Experiences Slight Decline
The Westpac-McDermott Miller Consumer Confidence Index registered a modest drop of 1.8 points in March, settling at 94.7. This figure, being under 100, suggests that pessimism about the economy outweighs optimism among households.
Interestingly, more families reported an improvement in their financial situation over the past year. Despite these positive domestic trends, concerns about international developments have started to overshadow them.
The survey was carried out during the first half of March, coinciding with significant global events.
