Broadcom faces complaint from European group and may face antitrust investigation

格隆汇 March 20｜Chip manufacturer Broadcom has been urged by the European cloud infrastructure service provider group (CISPE) to have EU regulators temporarily block the company from terminating its VMware cloud service provider program in Europe, which may expose Broadcom to an EU antitrust investigation. CISPE stated that in January this year, Broadcom announced the termination of its VMware cloud service provider program in Europe. This unilateral decision revoked the qualifications of all partners except for a very few selected ones, excluding most European cloud service providers from selling VMware products, thereby causing harm to both cloud service providers and their customers. Regulators responded by confirming receipt of the complaint and are currently evaluating it according to standard procedures. Broadcom said it strongly opposes CISPE's allegations, claiming they distort the true situation of the market, and that the company has made significant investments in its European VMware cloud service provider partners.
