Canada's industrial product and raw material price indices for February 2026
Industrial Product and Raw Material Prices in Canada Rise in February
In February, the Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI), which tracks the cost of goods produced in Canada, climbed by 0.4% compared to the previous month and was up 5.4% from the same period last year. At the same time, the Raw Materials Price Index (RMPI), reflecting the prices manufacturers pay for raw materials, saw a 0.6% monthly increase and an 8.6% rise year over year.
The IPPI’s monthly growth followed a larger 2.8% jump in January. This recent increase was largely fueled by higher prices for energy and petroleum products. In contrast, prices for primary goods experienced a decline, partially offsetting the overall rise.
