India to see semaglutide patent expire this Saturday, multiple pharmaceutical companies are eyeing the opportunity

Indian listed company NATCO Pharma has announced that it will launch a generic version of semaglutide on the first day of the patent expiration (March 21), with the multi-dose vial version starting at 1,290 Indian rupees per month (approximately $13.8/RMB 95). According to announcements and earnings call records from Indian listed companies, at least 12 major Indian pharmaceutical companies, including Sun Pharma and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, have confirmed plans to launch generic semaglutide in the near future, but the actual scale of competition will be much larger.
