The US House of Representatives will review the topic of tokenization, with SEC and CFTC jointly studying related regulations.

On March 23, the U.S. House Financial Services Committee will review the topic of tokenization, focusing on requiring the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to jointly study tokenized securities and derivatives, as well as allowing certain regulated institutions to use blockchain-based recordkeeping under future SEC rules. In January this year, the SEC stated that tokenized stocks and bonds are still subject to existing securities laws. Earlier this month, the SEC expanded its crypto regulatory framework, clarifying that tokenized securities fall within its regulatory scope. Last week, the SEC and CFTC reached a coordination agreement to advance regulatory collaboration.
