According to informed sources, this plant is crucial for meeting the majority of the country's natural gas demand. Meanwhile, due to the inability to export via the Strait of Hormuz, the United Arab Emirates' only operational liquefied natural gas (LNG) production plant on Das Island in the Persian Gulf is currently operating at extremely low capacity. Sources say that, in order to quickly resume operations when the Strait of Hormuz reopens, the plant, which has an annual production capacity of 6 million tons, has not completely halted production, but the specific operating rate was not disclosed.
