The S&P 500 Index preliminarily closed up 1.1%, with the consumer discretionary sector rising 2.5%, technology and materials sectors up 1.6%, and the energy sector gaining 1.1%, performing moderately.

The Nasdaq 100 Index closed preliminarily up 1.2%. Among its constituents, Palantir closed preliminarily up 6.7%, INSM up 5.7%, Broadcom and ASML ADR both rose more than 4%, Tesla added 3.4%, Synopsys and Cadence Design Systems gained 3.1%, while Qualcomm fell 0.9%, Seagate Technology declined 1.6%, Reuters dropped 2.2%, and Micron Technology slid 4%. 3M closed preliminarily up 3.9%, leading the Dow Jones constituents. Home Depot, Caterpillar, IBM, Goldman Sachs, and Amazon all rose at least 2%, while Disney fell 1.4% and UnitedHealth dropped 2.1%.
