AUD/USD: Decline Persists Amid US Dollar Surge
AUD/USD Extends Losses Amid US-Iran Tensions
The Australian dollar continued to weaken against the US dollar on Thursday, with the AUD/USD exchange rate sliding to 0.6940 after previously reaching a yearly peak of 0.7180. This downward momentum persisted throughout the week as diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States stalled.
Recent negotiations saw the US, under Donald Trump's leadership, propose a 15-point framework aimed at resolving the conflict, which called for Iran to dismantle its nuclear facilities. Iran, however, dismissed these terms and countered with its own set of five conditions, including demands for compensation and the withdrawal of American military bases from the Middle East.
Given these opposing stances, the likelihood of a swift resolution remains low.
