Vietnamese airlines have significantly cut flights since April

Golden Ten Data reported on March 27 that as jet fuel prices soar and supply constraints put pressure on the industry, while conflict in the Middle East continues to drag on, Vietnamese airlines will significantly cut flights and downsize operations starting in April, shifting their focus to core routes. According to a document from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines will suspend operations on seven domestic routes from April 1. The document noted that if jet fuel prices rise to $160–200 per barrel, the airline plans to cut flights by 10% to 20% each month in the next quarter. This means its international flights could face a cancellation rate of up to 18%, while the cancellation rate for domestic routes could reach as high as 26%. The document also showed that low-cost carrier Vietjet Air plans to reduce its total capacity by 18% in April, including a 22% reduction in domestic flights and an 11% cut on international routes. Bamboo Airways faces even steeper cuts, with its number of flights halved to just 15 to 17 flights per day.
