AAII: U.S. investor pessimism slightly eases but remains high

Golden Ten Data reported on March 27 that the latest survey by the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) showed a slight easing in pessimism among ordinary investors regarding stock prices over the next six months. Of the respondents, 49.8% held a pessimistic view, down from last week's 52.0% (which was the highest since May). However, pessimism remains "exceptionally high" and has exceeded the historical average (31.0%) for seven consecutive weeks. Optimism about stock prices rising over the next six months increased from last week's 30.4% (the lowest level since last September) to 32.1%, remaining below the historical average of 37.5% for the sixth straight week. In a special survey question, when asked about their views on the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates unchanged last week, nearly two-thirds of respondents (66.5%) thought it was the right move, only one-seventh (14.2%) believed the Fed should cut rates, and 13.7% believed rates should be raised, with the rest expressing uncertainty or having no opinion.
