Bitcoin market volatility is limited, possibly due to institutional investors being the main reason

Since mid-February, Bitcoin has remained in a narrow range around $70,000. Institutional investors have been selling covered call options on their Bitcoin holdings to earn additional income, shifting a large amount of positive gamma exposure to market makers. The hedging activities of market makers for this positive gamma seem to mechanically suppress price fluctuations and reduce the Bitcoin Volatility Index.
