Euro area yearly inflation rises to 2.5%
Euro Area Inflation Forecast for March 2026
According to preliminary figures from Eurostat, the European Union's statistical agency, annual inflation in the euro area is projected to reach 2.5% in March 2026, rising from 1.9% in February.
Among the key drivers of inflation, energy prices are anticipated to show the largest annual increase, with a rate of 4.9% in March compared to a decrease of 3.1% in February. Services are expected to see a 3.2% rise, slightly lower than February's 3.4%. The category of food, alcohol, and tobacco is forecasted to grow by 2.4%, down from 2.5% in the previous month. Non-energy industrial goods are predicted to increase by 0.5%, following a 0.7% rise in February.
Eurostat releases its flash estimate for euro area inflation at the close of each reference month.
