March Commodity Price Index Update
According to early figures for March, the commodity price index rose by 2.6% in SDR terms, following a 1.6% increase in February. All major subindices—including non-rural, rural, and base metals—experienced growth during the month. When measured in Australian dollars, the index saw a 2.1% rise in March.
Looking at the past twelve months, the index climbed 12.8% in SDR terms. Higher prices for gold, lithium, coking coal, and rural commodities have outweighed reductions in iron ore and alumina values. In Australian dollar terms, the index is up 3.8% over the year.
