Germany: Input costs rise at fastest pace since October 2022 as Middle East conflict escalates
German Manufacturing Faces Rising Costs Amid Middle East Conflict
According to the latest PMI® survey, German manufacturers experienced heightened expenses and supply chain interruptions in March, largely attributed to the ongoing war in the Middle East. Despite these challenges, production levels and new orders increased at a faster pace. Surveyed companies noted that customer demand grew as buyers sought to counteract the effects of the conflict on supply chains.
However, when considering the future, manufacturers expressed significantly less optimism about growth prospects for the coming year compared to their outlook before the Middle East crisis began. The S&P Global Germany Manufacturing PMI® serves as a key indicator of overall industry performance.
