US: Warner, Schiff investigate possible insider trading within the government
Senators Seek Investigation Into Possible Insider Trading by Government Officials
Senators Mark Warner of Virginia and Adam Schiff of California have formally requested explanations regarding suspected insider trading within the government. In a letter addressed to the Securities and Exchange Commission chair and the Department of Defense inspector general, they referenced media reports highlighting substantial investments in stocks and related financial instruments made prior to significant policy announcements, including actions concerning the Iran conflict and President Donald Trump’s tariff policies.
The senators raised concerns that these patterns may suggest federal employees are sharing confidential information for personal financial benefit.
