Abu Dhabi's largest natural gas processing plant has suspended operations after a fire, marking the facility’s second shutdown since the outbreak of war in the Middle East. The Abu Dhabi Media Office announced on X that the Habshan gas facility halted operations after debris from an intercepted attack fell into the area.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company operates this major gas gathering and processing facility in the UAE. Habshan also has oil facilities and is the starting point of an Abu Dhabi National Oil Company crude oil pipeline to Fujairah, a key port outside the Strait of Hormuz.
Several hours earlier, Kuwait's Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery was also attacked, causing a fire in operating equipment. Authorities also stated that an electricity and seawater desalination plant was attacked early Friday morning, resulting in damage to some equipment.
