Glonghui, April 4th | Tata Steel Ltd. stated in a press release on Saturday that the company has received a demand notice of 17.55 billion rupees (approximately $189 million USD) from the Jharkhand mining department. The notice, dated March 30 and delivered on Friday, concerns the alleged issue of excess coal mining during the fiscal years 2000-01 to 2006-07. The company indicated that the demand lacks reasonable grounds and substantive basis. Tata Steel plans to seek legal remedies with the appropriate authorities.
