The future evolution of technology paths will enhance the value of optical communications within the AI industry. The unit price of high-performance products is expected to continue rising, increasing the value contribution of the optical communication segment in the AI computing power chain. At OFC 2026, an exchange predicted that the optical communications market will continue its rapid expansion, and by 2030, the total addressable market (TAM) for AI optical communications—including pluggable optical modules, co-packaged optics (CPO), and optical circuit switches (OCS)—will soar from $18 billion in 2025 to $90 billion.
