White House believes Warsh will head the Fed in May
White House Adviser Expects Warsh to Lead Federal Reserve in May
Kevin Hassett, an economic adviser at the White House, expressed strong confidence on Thursday that Kevin Warsh will assume the role of Federal Reserve chair in May. He also stated that he does not anticipate Jerome Powell, the current Fed chairman, to continue serving on the board.
Speaking with Fox Business Network, Hassett remarked, "I'm very certain this transition will take place," and noted that Warsh's confirmation hearing is likely to commence next week. According to Hassett, Powell has made it clear he intends to step down from the central bank once a new chair is officially appointed. "He has signaled that, once a new chair is confirmed, he will step aside, which is the right course of action," Hassett said.
