The Baltic Dry Index records its biggest weekly gain in two months

Golden Ten Data Futures April 10 report: On Friday, the Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index rose to its highest level in over a month and recorded its best week in two months, as freight rates for all vessel types increased simultaneously. The Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index rose by 40 points, or 1.9%, from the previous trading day to 2,201 points, marking the highest level since March 4. This week, the index climbed a total of 6.5%, posting the largest single-week gain since early February. The Capesize Index increased by 83 points, or about 2.6%, to 3,318 points and gained 7.5% over the week; average daily earnings for Capesize vessels rose by $750 to $26,585. The Panamax Index gained 13 points, or about 0.7%, to 1,855 points, recording a nearly 4% weekly increase; average daily earnings for Panamax vessels rose by $114 to $16,696. The Supramax Bulk Carrier Index increased by 15 points, or 1.2%, to 1,308 points, and was up 6.9% for the week.
