Several European airlines call on the EU to take action to ensure jet fuel supply

The European Aviation Association, established by the five largest European airlines, called on that day for the establishment of a jet fuel supply monitoring mechanism at the EU level to directly obtain information provided by suppliers, and also suggested that the EU jointly purchase jet fuel. The association also called for measures such as suspending the implementation of the EU Emissions Trading System and abolishing aviation taxes. According to the regulations related to the EU Emissions Trading System, airlines must purchase greenhouse gas emission allowances. In addition, the association called for further clarification of existing regulations to prevent chain reactions such as airport or airspace closures caused by the US-Israel-Iran conflict from affecting the normal operation of airlines. The association believes that the above measures are both a temporary response to the current situation and a long-term strategy.
