In March 2026, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) climbed by 1.0% compared to the previous month, following a 0.6% increase in February. This rise was primarily driven by a sharp escalation in energy costs, which jumped 8.9% after a modest 0.3% uptick the month before. Petroleum products saw an especially notable spike, surging 17.1% after a 1.8% increase.
Meanwhile, manufactured goods experienced a slower price growth than in February, rising 0.7% versus the previous 1.4%. Service prices also saw a reduced increase, up 0.2% compared to 0.5% previously. Tobacco prices edged up by 0.3%, slightly less than February’s 0.4% rise. Food prices showed a marginal increase of 0.1%, following a period of stability.
When adjusted for seasonal factors, consumer prices advanced by 0.8% in March, after a 0.2% gain in February. On a yearly basis, consumer prices were up 1.7% in March 2026.
