Trump Administration Eyes Swift Return of Tariffs Following Supreme Court Ruling

On Tuesday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated that President Donald Trump’s tariffs might be reinstated as soon as July. This announcement comes after the Supreme Court invalidated Trump’s previous tariffs under the IEEPA earlier this year, prompting the administration to seek alternative legal avenues for trade measures.

Speaking at a Wall Street Journal event, Bessent acknowledged the recent legal hurdle, stating, "We experienced a setback at the Supreme Court regarding our tariff approach." He went on to explain that the administration is now moving forward with Section 301 investigations, which could allow tariffs to return to their former levels by early July.
