Last month, as the conflict in Iran pushed up oil prices, yields soared. The 10-year US Treasury yield reached a peak of 4.44% on March 27 and remains above the pre-war level. Hughey said, "With the sharp rise in yields, locking in longer-term fixed-income products has become more attractive." He added that inflation concerns, which could push the benchmark yield above 4.5%, may also trigger growth worries that usually have the opposite effect. This high level may also prompt investors to sell stocks and buy bonds, thus limiting the rise in yields.
