GroLink April 17 — ASML’s first-quarter report met market consensus expectations, and the company also raised its revenue guidance for 2026. UBS stated on April 16 that ASML typically revises its guidance around the middle of the year, so this upward adjustment is significant, indicating improved visibility of strong demand under long-term supply agreements. In addition, TSMC’s first-quarter profit increased by 58%, exceeding expectations and setting a new record; TSMC also forecasted another record high for second-quarter sales and added that this year’s capital expenditure would be at the upper end of its previous guidance range. UBS believes that the results of ASML and TSMC confirm that, as AI-driven applications continue to proliferate, demand for AI computing remains strong. UBS said that major US tech firms will release their earnings reports in the coming weeks, and investors will closely monitor their monetization efforts and outcomes. The bank remains optimistic about AI as a long-term trend and recommends that investors diversify across the AI value chain and different regions.

"Big short" Michael Burry: The AI bubble may burst "earlier than expected," replacing short positions with put options to increase leverage

Michael Burry suggested that the AI bubble could burst as early as next summer and has replaced all his short positions on Micron, Nebius, SOXX semiconductor ETF, and Palantir with put options to obtain lower cost and higher leveraged short exposure. He believes the AI boom is built on the unproven assumption of "sustained capital expenditure," and once revenues disappoint, capital will quickly flee.
