ChainCatcher reports that India is piloting digital rupee applications through around 10 welfare programs. Approximately 80 billion USD in subsidies and food welfare benefits are being distributed via e-rupee in order to reduce fund loss and corruption, and to provide clearer use cases for central bank digital currencies.
