Forbes: Expectations for BTC Returning to $80,000 are Rising, Statement from U.S. SEC Chairman at Bitcoin 2026 Conference Attracts Attention
Odaily reports that U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Paul Atkins recently reaffirmed the advancement of “Project Crypto” and announced plans to jointly establish a digital asset classification framework with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). This framework will clarify when tokens are recognized as securities, while also introducing an “innovation exemption” to support on-chain trading of tokenized securities.
The market views the initiatives promoted by Paul Atkins as among the most proactive crypto regulatory shifts in SEC history, marking the formal abandonment of the old model of “regulation by enforcement” in favor of clear rulemaking. This move may serve as a stronger entry signal for long-waiting institutional capital and could help propel Bitcoin’s price back above $80,000. Currently, Bitcoin is priced at approximately $77,586. The market is closely watching for further remarks from Paul Atkins at the Bitcoin 2026 conference in late April. (Forbes)
