Report: Former Glencore trader involved in Ambatovy nickel mine acquisition

Jason Kluk left the Switzerland-based mining giant at the end of 2024. Jersey and UK registration documents show that he is a director of Essenwood Partners. Sumitomo Corporation stated that Essenwood Partners jointly led the acquisition of its 54% stake in Ambatovy with South African company Zungu Investments. On Friday, Sumitomo Corporation announced that after holding this stake for more than 20 years, it will divest and transfer it to Jersey-based Ambatovy Mineral Resources Investment Holding Co. (AMRI), and this investment will result in a loss of $445 million.
