Jinse Finance reported that on May 3, Galaxy Head of Research Alex Thorn posted on the X platform stating that after in-depth discussions with several Bitcoin industry figures regarding quantum computing and Bitcoin, he believes the market is gradually forming a consensus:First, the approximately 1.1 million BTC held by Satoshi Nakamoto (distributed across about 22,000 P2PK addresses) should not be casually used. Violating their property rights to address quantum risks may undermine Bitcoin’s core value proposition; even in the extreme case where these BTC are moved, the market has a strong absorption capacity, and risks can be further mitigated through solutions such as "Hourglass".Second, advancing research, testing, and signature compression of quantum-resistant (PQ) cryptography and other new encryption technologies is a positive direction. Emergency plans can be prepared in advance, but prematurely implementing them at the protocol layer should be avoided to prevent a consensus deadlock or introducing new, unverified risks. Even if there is only a 1% probability of quantum threats impacting Bitcoin, ongoing research is still worthwhile.
